Subject line: {YOUR DESIRED POSITION} – Script Competition Crew

And please add any info you feel we need to know for you to be considered for our crew in your email. Those who don’t follow these guidelines won’t be considered.

Why should you submit your script?

One winning script will be fully produced and shot in Early 2026. This means you get a real film made from your work with a cast, crew, locations, gear, the whole deal. You’ll receive full writer credit, and you’ll be kept in the loop throughout the process so you’re not just handing off your script into the void.

Once the film is completed, it will premiere at an in-person screening alongside other Beyond Film School projects.

You’ll get to see your story brought to life on the big screen, network with filmmakers, and have a finished short film you can submit to festivals, or use as a calling card piece.

This competition isn’t about collecting scripts. it’s about choosing one strong, shootable story and actually making the movie. If you’ve been waiting for a real opportunity to get your work produced, this is it.

Selection Process:

  • Each script submitted WILL be read.

  • Those who make the short-list will be notified, and scheduled to be interviewed

  • From that short list a winning finalist will be chosen.

  • If any of the guidelines/script requirements aren’t followed your script will NOT be considered

  • We will choose a script based on feasibility, originality, and overall love for the story.

If your script isn’t chosen in no way is this saying we didn’t like your script, or that it wasn’t a good story to tell. Sometimes scripts require a bigger budget, or more resources than what we might have access to. It will no doubt be a tough decision choosing one script for this competition!
ANYONE can be chosen! We are not basing our decision off of how much experience you have writing, how many script you’ve written, social following, or where you are in your career. We want a great story to produce!
And don’t fret about the interview, I want to meet the person I would be working with throughout this process first. (Filmmaking is no joke, and we should at least vibe before we make a movie together.)

Who's Directing?

The winning script will be directed by Amber M. Sherman, Founder of Beyond Film School and a working Assistant Director with years of experience on professional sets.

Why is this a win for you?

Because you’re getting a director who actually knows how to run a set, protect a writer’s vision, wants to involve the writer in the process, and can get a film across the finish line on time, on schedule, and with a team that knows what they’re doing. But also a director that likes to enjoy the filmmaking process.

Your script won’t sit on someone’s shelf for years. If I pick it, we’re making it.

If you’ve ever wanted to see your story brought to life by someone who understands actors, logistics, story, and the chaos of film production, this is that chance.

Why Your Script Matters to Me as a Director:

Your script matters to me because if your story is chosen, I’m the one who will be bringing it to life. As the founder of Beyond Film School and a working Assistant Director turned Director, I don’t pick projects casually, I pick them because I believe they can genuinely become something powerful on screen.

I’m not looking for “just another short film.”
I’m looking for a script I can connect with, champion, and elevate. Something that challenges me creatively and gives both of us a project we can be proud of.

When I choose a script to direct, I’m committing my time, my energy, my team, and my reputation to it. That means your work is respected, elevated, and something I believe in. I will read it thoughtfully, visualize it, and consider how I can bring out its strongest moments.

If your script is selected, you’re not just winning a competition, you’re gaining a collaborator who cares deeply about crafting meaningful work, running a professional set, and creating a film that represents both of us well

Are there any fees?

There is a small

$10 submission fee to

submit your script

Why?

Because I want to make sure the scripts submitted come from writers who are genuinely invested in this opportunity. It also helps cover the time I’ll spend reading and evaluating every script with real attention, not skimming, not rushing.

And it goes directly into the production budget for the winning film. In a way, you’re contributing to bringing the selected story to life. A small investment in something that could turn into a major milestone for your filmmaking journey. The fee keeps the process focused, fair, and manageable so every submission gets the attention it deserves.
